From April 1-5, 2009, the 62nd Annual North Carolina Azalea Festival will be held in the greater Wilmington area. The Festival brings together the areas artwork, gardens, history and culture. The five day festival includes a parade, street fair, circus, and concerts.
The Festival started in 1948 and since then has flourished. It now attracts more than 300,000 people each year. The festival is a non-profit organization and this year sponsorship is derived from four main sources: Progress Energy, My Rewards, Wachovia Bank, and the Hilton Wilmington Riverside.
